Today there are a staggering number of breweries being opened in the U.S. That means one thing: We like the beer. The number of breweries being built and opened is at a 125-year high in America.

The small-town taverns and neighborhood micro breweries starting up are growing in leaps and bounds. The Brewers Association reported the number of breweries in the U.S. stood at 2,126 in June, and about 1,250 are still in the works.

The sales of craft beer has increased considerably by 12 percent in the first half of 2012.

With this trend we will see more production, brewing and employment in these companies. Plus, there's nothing wrong with getting to try a bunch of new, different brews.

Brewers Association president Paul Gatza told the Denver Post it is believed the highest number of breweries in the U.S. was around 4,000 in 1873.
