The week is drawing to a close, and I’m sure the only thing you can think about is counting down the hours until you are free from work and all the stresses that come with it. The weekend is a time to let loose and have fun. We found plenty of things to do this weekend to keep you entertained.

First and foremost: Friday Night Football. There is nothing more exciting than watching local high school teams battle it out and leave it all on the field. And it’s nearing the end of the season, which means the games are going to be good! Here’s the list of games for this up coming weekend.

With Halloween approaching, quickly I must admit, it’s time to get in the spirit. And what better way to get into the spirit than to get the living daylights scared out of you? East Texas is full of haunted houses and scary things to get you riled up for the up coming holiday. We put together a list of the top haunted houses in Tyler and Longview for your convenience. If you want to get into the spirit and not be scared to death head over to Moore’s Pumpkin Farm for some good Halloween fun.

If you are in the mood for some drama and really good entertainment, head on over to the Jean Browne Theater at Tyler Junior College for the drama programs interpretation of Shakespeare’s tragedy  “MacBeth“. The program runs at 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday night, with 2 pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday. All box seats are $5 but call to make your reservations because seating is limited. I have seen the  productions of the TJC drama team and they are incredible. This is definitely something you will find me at this weekend.

Also this weekend is the historic Texas Rose Festival. Enjoy the thousands of different roses and the beauty of the infamous Tyler Rose Garden. You can enjoy “tea with the Queen” and enjoy the museum of the beautiful Queen’s dresses of the past, as well as enjoy the beautiful artistic touches at the Palette of Roses Art Show. You can also head out to Bergfield Park in Tyler for  the Rose Festival Arts and Crafts Fair to enjoy beautiful artwork by local artists. You can get ticket information and event times here.

Whether you’re into sports or history there is something for everyone this weekend in East Texas. We hope you have a wonderful weekend! What do you plan on doing this weekend?
