Texas Rangers Fan Dies Trying to Catch Ball [VIDEO]

A tragic event happened Thursday night at The Ballpark in Arlington.  A foul ball bounced off a seat and back in to the field.  Rangers outfielder, Josh Hamilton, picked up the ball and tossed it up in to the stands above the out of town scoreboard in left field.  More after the jump.

A fan reached out too far and fell 20 feet from the stands to the area behind the digital scoreboard.  It was announced a little after 10pm last night that the fan had in fact died from his injuries on the way to the hospital.  The Texas Rangers President, Nolan Ryan, released this statement:

We are deeply saddened to learn that the man who fell has passed away as a result of this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The accident happens nearly a year ago to the day when another Ranger fan fell 30 feet from the second level to the stands below. That fan suffered a fractured skull. This is actually the 3rd fall in the ballpark's history. In 1994 a woman fell from the upper home run porch while posing for a picture.  It was opening day for the stadium.
