Smashing Pumpkins frontman and pro-wrestling fanatic Billy Corgan is working on creating a reality TV show focused on his new Chicago-based wrestling company Resistance Pro — and he reveals that he’s been doing a lot of “behind-the-scenes stuff” to make it happen.
The Smashing Pumpkins have been busy releasing new music ever since leader Billy Corgan announced his 44-song project ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’ in 2009. The band is about to release ‘Oceania,’ an “album within an album.” Drummer Mike Byrne describes the record as “a whole different set of ascetics.”
The Smashing Pumpkins, well more specifically Billy Corgan, have seen it all in the band’s 24-year existence. From earth-shattering success to bitter breakups, Corgan has weathered the storm longer than most of his peers. With a new Pumpkins album entitled ‘Oceania’ on the horizon, the musician has shed some light on the disc.
Smashing Pumpkins will issue ‘Oceania,’ their seventh studio album, on June 19. It exists as part of the band’s ambitious, 44-song ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’ project, which is released in song-by-song format and has been since 2009. Yet ‘Oceania’ still stands apart as a separate piece.
Billy Corgan‘s dream of becoming an ‘American Idol’ judge has yet to materialize, but the Smashing Pumpkins singer took one small step towards becoming a reality TV star on tonight’s (April 9) episode of ‘The Voice’ when Katrina Parker turned in a rendition of ‘Tonight, Tonight,’ the Pumpkins smash off their massively successful 1995 album, ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.’
While Billy Corgan‘s desire to be an ‘American Idol’ judge remains unfulfilled, Smashing Pumpkins fans still have something to look forward to — a June 18 release date has been announced for ‘Oceania,’ the band’s first album since 2007′s ‘Zeitgeist.’

The dozen concert dates are being described as a warmup to a big year of touring in 2012, which is when the Pumpkins will release their in-progress studio album, ‘Oceania.’
Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan has written a autobiography and it's due out sometime in 2012. The title is God is Everywhere, From Here to There. According to MTV, he says it's a "spiritual memoir" and will focus on his personal life and musical career. More after the jump.
