This week I have done several posts that celebrate the anniversary of some of the biggest albums of all time. Yesterday it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" that I posted about. Tomorrow (September 24) is the 20 year anniversary of the release date for this classic album. Tomorrow is also the anniversary for the release of what is maybe one of the greatest albums of all time. More after the jump.
Yesterday I posted about Radiohead's Creep turning 19. That made some of you feel old - myself included! Aug. 30 was already going to be a big day for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Thanks to a little help from Fuse TV, it’s going to be even bigger.
To coincide with the release of the band’s new album, ‘I’m With You,’ on that Tuesday, Fuse will air a Chili Peppers concert from the legendary Roxy Theatre at 9 p.m. ET.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have always made an effort to include a provocative visual component with their music, an aesthetic that has encompassed everything from their outlandish stage getups to the memorably bold covers for albums like 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' and 'Mother's Milk.'
The band is continuing that tradition with the cover for their next release, 'I'm With You,' due August 30 from their longtime label, Warner Bros. Records. The strikingly minimal image, assembled by designer Damien Hirst, is a close-up shot of a fly resting on a pill that has the album title printed on it.
He’s been one of the most sought-after producers in rock for 25 years — and now that he’s also co-chairman of Columbia Records, Rick Rubin is also one of the busiest, with his hands in a dizzying list of current and upcoming projects.
Rubin discussed a number of those albums during a recent Billboard interview, conducted to celebrate the huge success of Columbia artist Adele’s new album, ’21′ (which, yes, Rubin co-produced). Up next on the schedule is the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers release, which he describes as a “Red Hot Chili Peppers that you’ve never heard before.”
