Police say the Longview bar fight started inside and spilled outside into the parking lot at Lodge Sports Bar and Grill on McCann Street in Longview early Friday, and that’s where one man was beaten unconscious.
The City of Longview has a career fair planed for today (June 13) from 4pm-7pm at Maude Cobb Convention Center. The fair will showcase various careers available with the City of Longview from police officers to firefighters to public works - like being a health inspector. The various city departments will have information about their current job openings as well as information about all other positions within the City.
This weekend the 6th Annual "Midnight Madness" Fast Pitch Softball Tournament is happening in Longview. I've never seen any of the games from previous years, but I think it's a cool idea. The games start tonight (June 8th) at 7 p.m. on all eight of the Lear Softball Fields. Tonight's games should end around 3 a.m. and then pick back up Saturday at 5 p.m. and continue with the finals slated to begin around midnight.
The City of Longview has released a warning to customers about a scam going on that targets water utility customers and has already impacted some Longview residents. As part of the scam, customers are told that President Obama and the federal government will provide a credit or directly pay utility bills. The scammers will then give customers a fraudulent bank routing number with which to pay the bills.
