If you're anything like me, you've got several old cans of paint laying around the garage. You know, the stuff left over after you wife decides she doesn't like the master bathroom anymore and wants a complete makeover done to it! The City of Tyler Solid Waste Department is here to help you legally get rid of that old paint. They have a paint recycling event coming up this Saturday, May 19th!

Tyler residents can bring up to 25 gallons of oil or latex paint between 8 a.m. and 12 noon to the Tyler Solid Waste employee parking lot. There the Solid Waste employees and technicians will collect and dispose of the materials. Epoxy and aerosol paints will not be accepted.

Keep Tyler Beautiful Board Chairwoman Phyllis Carlyle says:

We want to give Tyler residents a chance to dispose of paint in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. This is a great opportunity to get rid of those leftover paint cans that so many of us have sitting around the garage after a project.
Anyone wanting to dispose of paint should bring a current water bill and driver's license to show proof of residency. You should also note, that this event is designed to collect household castoffs only, not commercial.

The Solid Waste employee parking lot is just north of the intersection of West Locust Street and North Bois D'Arc Avenue, near the bus station.
