The practices began in the middle of August when it was one hundred degrees preparing for games with one goal in mind - the state championship title game! A couple of East Texas teams have reached that goal and are one win away from gaining that title. The Daingerfield Tigers and Gilmer Buckeyes are playing in their final games today at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
With Christmas just days away, many offices throughout East Texas will be or have held office Christmas parties. Usually these parties involve a catered meal, a speech about the highlights of the year, mixed in with some adult beverages and in some offices some sort of bonus is handed out. According to a recent survey of human resource executives more companies are handing out Christmas bonuses this year than in previous years.
The country came together on Friday when 27 people lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. People all over the country have been paying tribute to the fallen in some way. NFL Players had a moment of silence before their games, even writing names of victims on their shoes or gloves. A woman laid 20 roses and 6 candles on her front porch - recognizing the 20 children and 6 teachers. The usually funny Saturday Night Live paused its hilarity to allow a children's choir to sing 'Silent Night' in honor of the victims. Now one of televisions biggest shows is getting in on the action by singing in honor of the fallen.
Tyler's downtown venue, the Coffin Shop, will be opening its doors for possibly the last time this Friday night. This "end of the world" show and art sale will be a great way to celebrate the weekend or the Mayan apocalypse.
Round three of the high school football playoffs happened last weekend and quite a few East Texas teams survived and are moving one step closer to playing in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington for the state titles. Currently East Texas has 12 teams still in the playoffs.
November 30, 2012 Cage Match Friday features two bands big in the 1990s and early 2000s who had big songs that made the charts. These two bands kind of disappeared, but we remember Stabbing Westward and Gravity Kills today in our Cage Match.
Last night while my wife was creating a new wreath to hang above the fireplace, my daughter and I watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on ABC. I love these classic Christmas shows and look forward to seeing them every year. In addition to these classics, I am a fan of the new ones as well, like Prep and Landing.

Here at the radio station yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with the entire staff, everything was prepared by someone from the station and was great - from the turkey and dressing to the mashed potatoes, greens, corn and rolls - it was all great. However, what I think stole the show was the selection of desserts that were offered to us!
With Thanksgiving coming up Thursday, the annual radio station Thanksgiving lunch with the staff and family is coming up tomorrow afternoon and of course the main dish at the luncheon will be turkey. But how that turkey gets prepared for us was up for a great debate!
It's a holiday tradition that has been happening for more than a quarter of a century in downtown Marshall and the switch will be thrown that will light up more than a million lights at the Wonderland of Lights Festival on Wednesday of next week.
