Six teenagers have ended up in San Fernando Valley emergency rooms recently with symptoms of alcohol poisoning, but they aren't swiping booze from their parent's liquor cabinets.

The teens are turning Purell into alcohol using salt and a distilling method that's easy to find online.  The process yields a liquid that's about 60% alcohol, or 120 proof, which is a bit stronger than your typical vodka or tequila.

Doctors are advising parents that if they keep hand sanitizer in the house, they should only buy the foam form sanitizers because you can't extract alcohol from them.
